During an individual session you and your therapist will meet one-on-one to determine your specific goals you want to achieve during your sessions. After you begin individual therapy, you may invite any family or significant others to attend sessions with you if both you and your therapist feel it would be beneficial in meeting your goals.
A family session is available for you and as many family members as you would like to invite. We encourage all household members, regardless of age, to attend family sessions. Additionally, we are happy to have extended family attend sessions as well. During a family session we will all work together to determine what immediate goals we would like to achieve during our time together and focus on addressing those specific issues.
A young child’s natural expression is through play. Children who are too young for talk therapy benefit through more through play therapy. Mrs. Smith incorporates directed play therapy services for young children and their families to help meet their treatment goals.
Virtual sessions are convenient for busy families, families who live out of the area, or those with health conditions. Telehealth is just as effective as face-to-face therapy sessions. Mrs. Smith has been providing telemental health sessions for over eleven years. She is available to provide telehealth sessions to individuals in families who reside within the State of Texas.
ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY
Mrs. Smith is trained in providing Animal Assisted Therapy. Along with her own therapy animal, Mrs. Smith provides an environment where clients may bring their Emotional Support Animals (ESA) to sessions. If you currently have a registered ESA, please talk with Mrs. Smith further about bringing your animal to sessions.
Some families are unable to attend counseling due to their busy schedules. Mrs. Smith offers virtual courses for parents to educate and provide them tools to support some challenges they may face. These coaching courses are designed as an extra support and not intended to replace formal diagnosis and treatment. If you are currently in treatment, ask your provider if the virtual courses are appropriate for your family.
